DigiCaptures Help

What's the easiest way to navigate around your site?

Use the menu links to jump to different parts of the site.

Most of the site is comprised of photographs we've taken. These photographs are categorized by galleries. You can see a list of galleries, and jump to any gallery, by using the Galleries link in the menu.

Another useful navigation aid is the site map. You'll find a link for the site map at the bottom of every web page. The site map provides a list of all the available web pages on our site, and a brief description of what each page contains.

I'm having problems figuring out how to navigate the galleries.

A gallery consists of an undertmined number of photos which you may view in in a forward or backward sequence by choosing a photo from the thumbnails at the top of page, or using the navigation arrows on either side of the thumbnails.

  • Use the double backward or forward arrow (chevron) to "page" through the gallery 9 photos at a time.

  • Click the single backward or foward arrow (chevron) to advance in that direction by a single photo. You will go to the previous/next page in the gallery if you go beyond the first/last thumbnail.

  • Click on a thumbnail to view that particular photo.

The gallery pages do not wrap. If you get to the first or last photo in the gallery clicking on the single or double arrows does nothing.

Clicking on any of the gallery links on the Galleries page takes you to the first photo in that gallery.

The main URL, http://www.digicaptures.com/ takes you to our most recent photos. These photos are in the All Photos gallery, a gallery composed of all the photos on the site. Clicking the Home link in the main menu also takes you to the most recent photos in the All Photos Gallery. The All Photos Gallery is the only gallery where you do NOT start out at the first photo--you start out at the first of the most recent photos.

Is there a faster way to go through your larger galleries?

Look at the first line of the photo description. You'll see a line that gives the gallery name. Note that the gallery name is a link. If you click on it you'll be taken to a page where you can view 56 thumbnails in the gallery at a time.

  • Click the First or Last link to jump to the first or last page in the gallery.

  • Click the double forward or backward arrows (chevron) to page through the gallery 56 thumbnails at a time.

  • Click on a thumbnail to view that particular photo.

The only photo I can view is the first one!

You need to ensure that your web browser is accepting cookies. Please review our privacy policy for a full explanation of why cookies are necessary on our site. You'll find the link at the bottom of any of our web pages.

Do I need to have JavaScript turned on to view your site?

Yes. We try to keep use of JavaScript to a minimum, but it is necessary.

Is your site browser specific?

The Web was born as a place of standards, and we don't support systems that use non-standard proprietary solutions.

We have taken great pains to ensure that our XHTML pages contain no proprietary formats, and render properly in Netscape, Mozilla, and Konqueror. These are the only browsers we have access to. Whenever the opportunity presents itself, we also try to ensure our pages work in Internet Exploreer. If a page does not render properly, in any browser, it is because that browser does not adhere to W3C standards.

What's the best screen resolution to use on your site?

800x600 can be used, but you'll do a lot of scrolling. 1024x768 is better, and higher resolutions are better still.
